Ownership & Funding
Ownership & Funding
Readers deserve to know who is behind the journalism they read and how it pays for itself. At PeopleOnTheNews (operating under the name Peopleon The News), we believe transparency about ownership and funding is a core part of earning trust. This page explains how we are funded, how we keep our journalism independent from our commercial interests, and how advertising and affiliate partnerships work on our site. It complements our Editorial Policy and Ethics Policy.
Who We Are
PeopleOnTheNews is an independent celebrity and influencer news magazine, published under the name Peopleon The News. We are a digital-first publication updated daily, staffed by an editorial team of experienced entertainment journalists, reporters, fact-checkers and photo editors. You can learn more about the people who produce our coverage on our Our Team page and about the publication itself on our About page.
How We Are Funded
Producing daily, professionally reported celebrity and influencer journalism costs money — writers, editors, fact-checking, photo licensing and the technology to deliver it all to a mobile-first audience. We fund this work primarily through two transparent revenue streams:
- Advertising. We display advertising on our site, including standard display formats and clearly labeled native or sponsored content. Advertising is the main way we keep our journalism free to read.
- Affiliate partnerships. Some of our articles contain affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. These relationships are disclosed (see below).
We may explore additional reader- and partner-supported revenue over time, and we will be transparent about any new funding sources as they are introduced.
Editorial Independence From Commercial Interests
Here is the most important commitment on this page: our funding never influences our editorial coverage. The people who write and edit our journalism operate independently from the people who sell our advertising. Advertisers, sponsors and affiliate partners do not decide what we cover, how we cover it, or what conclusions we reach. They do not receive advance notice of our reporting, they cannot edit or kill stories, and they earn no protection from criticism by virtue of doing business with us.
A brand that advertises on PeopleOnTheNews is treated in our editorial pages exactly as it would be if it had never spent a dollar with us — with the same independence and the same scrutiny. This wall between our newsroom and our commercial operation is non-negotiable and is central to our credibility.
No Pay-for-Coverage
We do not sell editorial coverage. No one can pay us to publish a flattering story, to alter or soften a story, to remove an accurate story, or to guarantee a subject favorable treatment. We do not accept payment from celebrities, influencers, publicists, managers, studios or brands in exchange for editorial coverage or for keeping something out of our pages. If a story is paid for in any way, it is not editorial — it is sponsored content, and it is clearly labeled as such. Any attempt to buy our coverage will be declined.
How Advertising Works
Advertising on our site is handled by our commercial team, entirely separately from editorial. We accept display advertising and native or sponsored placements that meet our brand-safety and disclosure standards. All paid placements that could be mistaken for editorial are clearly labeled as sponsored, partnered or advertising, so readers always know what they are looking at. Brands interested in reaching our audience can learn more and request a media kit on our Advertise page or by emailing advertise@peopleonthenews.com. We reserve the right to decline advertising that conflicts with our values or brand-safety standards.
Affiliate Disclosure
Some links on PeopleOnTheNews are affiliate links, particularly in shopping, fashion, beauty and product-related content. This means that if you click certain links and go on to buy a product, we may receive a small commission from the retailer, at no extra cost to you. Affiliate commissions help support our journalism. Importantly, the presence of an affiliate link never changes our editorial opinion: we recommend products on the merits, not because a link earns us a commission, and an affiliate relationship does not buy a positive mention. Where affiliate links appear, we aim to make that relationship clear to readers in line with applicable disclosure standards.
Our Commitment
Our promise to you is simple and firm: commercial considerations will never determine our journalism. We separate the business of funding the publication from the work of reporting the news, we disclose how we make money, and we label sponsored and affiliate content honestly. We accept the discipline this requires because independence is the only foundation on which trustworthy journalism can be built. If you ever have a question about our funding, our advertising, or whether a piece of content is sponsored, we welcome it — contact us at info@peopleonthenews.com or through our Contact Us page.
