Corrections & Clarifications
Corrections & Clarifications
Getting it right matters more to us than being first, and being honest when we get something wrong matters just as much. PeopleOnTheNews covers a fast-moving celebrity and influencer beat where facts can shift by the hour, and no newsroom is immune from error. What separates a trustworthy publication from an untrustworthy one is not the absence of mistakes — it is how openly and quickly those mistakes are fixed. This page explains our corrections philosophy, the difference between corrections, clarifications and updates, and exactly how to ask us to fix something.
Our Corrections Philosophy
We believe corrections build trust rather than erode it. When we make a factual error, we own it, fix it, and tell readers what changed — we do not silently edit the record and pretend nothing happened. Transparency is the point. A publication that hides its mistakes is asking you to trust it less, not more. We would rather show our work, correct in the open, and demonstrate that accuracy is something we take seriously every day. This commitment is part of our broader standards, set out in our Editorial Policy and Fact-Checking Policy.
Corrections, Clarifications and Updates
Not every change is the same, so we distinguish between three types:
- Corrections address factual errors — a wrong name, date, figure, quote, location or claim. When we correct a factual error, we fix the text and add a clear note explaining what was wrong and when it was corrected. Significant corrections are flagged prominently rather than buried.
- Clarifications address content that was factually accurate but unclear, ambiguous, or open to being misunderstood. A clarification sharpens the language or adds missing context so the meaning is unmistakable, and we note that the piece has been clarified.
- Updates address developing stories where new, verified information has emerged since publication. Celebrity and influencer news evolves quickly, so we update stories to keep them current and, where the change is material, we indicate that the article has been updated and when.
In all three cases, our goal is the same: keep the published record accurate and make any meaningful change visible to readers.
How to Request a Correction
If you believe we have published something inaccurate, please tell us — whether you are a reader, a subject of our coverage, or a representative acting on someone’s behalf. The fastest way to reach us is by email at info@peopleonthenews.com. You can also reach us through our Contact Us page.
To help us review and resolve your request as quickly as possible, please include:
- The article — the headline and the link (URL) to the page in question.
- The specific claim — the exact sentence, fact, figure or detail you believe is incorrect.
- What the correct information is — what it should say instead.
- Supporting evidence — any source, document or link that demonstrates the accurate information, if available.
- Your contact details — so we can follow up if we need to clarify anything.
The more precise and well-documented your request, the faster we can verify and act on it. Every credible correction request is taken seriously and reviewed by our editors.
Our Response Timeline
We aim to acknowledge correction requests promptly, typically within one to two business days, and to resolve clear-cut factual errors quickly once verified — often the same day. More complex requests, or those that require us to re-report or confirm new facts, may take longer, and we will keep you informed of the status. Where an error is clear and verified, we will not wait to fix it. Where a claim is disputed, we will investigate fairly before deciding whether a correction, clarification or update is warranted.
Our Transparency Commitment
We commit to correcting errors in good faith, in the open, and without defensiveness. We will not retaliate against readers or subjects who flag mistakes — on the contrary, we are grateful for them. We will not use minor wording changes to quietly rewrite substance, and we will not bury significant corrections. Note that requesting a correction is different from requesting the removal of accurate reporting; our approach to updates and unpublishing is described in our Editorial Policy. Our promise is straightforward: when we are wrong, we say so, we fix it, and we show you.
